Downsview Community Benefits Committee

Toronto Community Benefits Network will soon be launching a Downsview Community Benefits Committee. 

Key information and activities include: 

  • Support the development of a Community Benefits Vision
  • Monitor the development application and City review process, participate in public meetings and/or consultations 
  • Discuss opportunities for public engagement including activities and events with network members and allies  
  • Meet with key stakeholders including elected representatives, government officials, developers 
  • Meeting frequency - regular meetings, frequency TBD
  • Honorariums can be provided 

By bringing together stakeholders from across the City of Toronto that each have expertise in different areas, it will allow for a fruitful discussion around Community Benefits priorities, good jobs, affordable housing, environmental sustainability and equitable development all in order to build a collective vision for Downsview.


Expression of Interest: 

  • The Google Form has been made live and can be accessed at this link
  • The form asks about your area of expertise and why you are interested in joining the committee, in addition to other information including meeting time/date preferences
  • Honorariums can be provided for residents/grassroot organizations that require them to attend meetings
  • Expectations: meeting frequency (once every 2-4 weeks); times and dates to be determined
  • Who can apply: 
    • Representation from community, labour and social enterprise organizations (TCBN network members and partners are encouraged to apply)
    • Residents living in the City of Toronto (TCBN encourages  residents in the local area who identify as Black, Indigenous a Person of Colour, a Woman, Youth or a Newcomer to apply) 
  •  Submission Deadline: January 30, 2022 (please have the expression of interest form filled out by this day - the committee will launch in the middle of February)
